Start with the kind of meal

Five distinct choices, without padding the list

Choose an all-day central table, a bookable waterside meal, a walk-in burger stop, or one of two food-led historic pubs. We excluded venues whose current first-party pages did not confirm ordinary pet dogs, and Fancett’s because its FAQ explicitly says dogs are not allowed.

What “dog friendly” means here

Every inclusion has a current dog statement and food information on the operator’s own website. Policies can still change, so reopen the linked policy before setting out and mention your dog when the card asks you to.

The useful short answers

Questions about dog-friendly restaurants in Cambridge

Can my dog eat inside at all five?

Yes, each venue’s own page welcomes dogs in the restaurant. Permit Room asks that pets stay off seats, The Millworks asks guests to mention a dog when booking, and Steak & Honour welcomes well-behaved dogs. The Eagle and Fort St George both welcome dogs indoors and ask that they stay on leads and off furniture.

Which option can I book?

Permit Room, The Millworks and Fort St George take bookings. The Eagle has seasonal booking limits, while Steak & Honour is first come, first served for ordinary visits.

Why are there only five places?

We only included active restaurants where a current first-party branch page supported both the dog rule and the food offer. A longer list based on old tourism copy, chain-wide assumptions or directory claims would be less useful.

What should I check before travelling?

Reopen the official policy, confirm service times and tell the venue about your dog when booking. A dog welcome does not guarantee that every table will suit every dog.
