**Dog rule:** Tower Bridge welcomes well-behaved dogs inside. Their lead must be held throughout the visit, they must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and they must stay off furniture and walls.

This means the paid visitor attraction inside Tower Bridge, not simply the public pavement across it. Dogs can join you in the historic Towers, high-level Walkways and glass floors, then continue into the Victorian Engine Rooms. It is a genuinely indoor landmark visit you can share with your dog.

A dog-friendly screening is a rare chance to plan an indoor activity where dogs are part of the format, rather than merely tolerated. Picturehouse lists these separately from its standard programme, so you need to choose a screening explicitly marked as dog friendly. The adjusted volume and lighting are intended to make the room more comfortable for canine guests.

Read the cinema-specific booking page before paying. Availability, timing and local rules vary, and some venues limit attendance to one dog per adult. Even in the special screening, a dark room and unfamiliar sound may not suit every dog.

### GoBoat

### London Waterbus

**Dog rule:** Well-behaved dogs travel free on scheduled public services if kept on a lead, under control and off the seats. Ordinary dogs are not accepted on private hire trips.

This traditional narrowboat service offers a calmer canal-level view of west and north London. It is a more intimate experience than the river bus and can form one half of a Little Venice or Camden day. The operator explicitly welcomes dogs on its scheduled public trips, which removes some of the usual uncertainty.

Boarding involves around five steep, ladder-style steps. The operator warns that this may be unsuitable for larger dogs, so it is not an accessible default for every pair. Confirm that you are booking the public service and check the current timetable before setting out.

### London Cable Car

**Dog rule:** Ordinary dogs must be carried and kept under control at all times. Assistance dogs are treated differently under the conditions of carriage.

The cable car gives a high-level view across the Thames and east London in a compact ride. It can fit neatly into a Greenwich or Royal Docks itinerary, but its dog rule is much narrower than a simple “dogs welcome” label suggests. It is only a realistic recommendation when you can comfortably carry your dog throughout.

### Borough Market

The market can become extremely crowded, so choose a quieter weekday period for a dog that needs personal space. Public areas are at ground level but include cobbles. Do not assume every enclosed trader or restaurant will accept your dog simply because the market itself does.

Sacred Grounds is a community coffee shop on Dean Street with its own garden, which makes it a particularly handy central pause. It works well between a Soho wander and another activity when you want coffee, cake or lunch without negotiating an unclear dog policy at the door.

**Dog rule:** Dogs are always very welcome at The Tankard. The venue publishes this alongside its general visitor information rather than limiting the welcome to assistance dogs.

The Tankard is a neighbourhood pub with a first-floor outdoor terrace looking across to the Imperial War Museum. It gives south London useful coverage and feels more casual than the City rooftop options, with pub food, drinks and an outdoor area large enough to be the point of the visit.

**Dog rule:** Dogs are welcome across much of the gardens, with signed lead zones and a dedicated dog playground. Ordinary pets are excluded from the House, Conservatory, shop and some garden areas.

Chiswick is a good choice when you want more structure than an ordinary park walk. The estate publishes a detailed dog map and provides a dedicated dog playground, while the café welcomes dogs on leads. The formal landscape gives humans something to explore without pretending that every historic interior is pet friendly.

Follow local signs because the estate mixes off-lead, on-lead and no-dog areas. Dogs must not enter the lake. If visiting the House or Conservatory matters to your group, arrange turns because ordinary pets cannot go inside.

**Dog rule:** Dogs are welcome in the gardens and café, with leads required except in Meadow Field. Dogs are excluded from the Nature Trail and Kusuma play area, and the museum accepts assistance dogs only.

The Horniman works as a garden-focused outing with London views and enough variety to feel more purposeful than a routine circuit. Its published rules distinguish clearly between the gardens, the off-lead field, restricted areas and the indoor museum, which makes the day easier to plan honestly.

During events and market days, dogs must remain on leads. If the museum collections are the main reason for visiting, this is not a complete dog-friendly solution because ordinary pets cannot enter. Use the gardens as the main event and treat the café as a possible stop.

**Dog rule:** Hampstead Heath permits controlled off-lead exercise outside restricted areas. At Kenwood, dogs are usually kept on leads except in West Meadow, and indoor spaces accept assistance dogs only.

Together, the Heath and Kenwood create one of the richest outdoor itineraries in London: open ground, woodland, skyline views and a historic estate. They are managed separately, so the useful trick is not to treat the whole area as one uniform off-lead zone. The route can be as short or ambitious as your dog’s fitness allows.

## Getting around London with a dog

TfL permits dogs and other inoffensive animals to travel free with a fare-paying passenger. Dogs should be on a lead, kept off seats and taken through a wide gate. They must not walk on moving escalators. Staff may refuse carriage when there is a good reason.
